Near Field Communication (NFC) is a technology which makes it possible for devices to communicate with eachother by setting up a wireless connection when the devices are held close to eachother. Some ways of using NFC are: 1) paying with your mobile, 2) getting access to cinemas or museums with your phone or 3) downloading ringtones from a poster. I captured the last option on video at Eday. The demo is also part of the WorkingTomorrow program just like the automatic emotion recognition that I showed you yesterday. In the video you see how the address of a ringtone downloadpage is transmitted from a poster to a mobile phone just by holding the mobile close to the poster. A simple, yet effective example of NFC technology.
