Eckhart Tolle

The first time I saw Eckhart Tolle was in the docudrama The Serious Business Of Happiness.
A little guy with a German accent that was talking in English about being aware of the now.
After this I watched his amazing lectures at the Findhorn Retreat.
It’s 2 DVD’s that both last 2 hours and they are impressive.
And funny also, at times.
I encourage you to buy these DVD’s.
They are well worth the money.
No, I’m not earning any money if you buy them…. 😉
But it will change your look at life.

PS At the moment I’m reading his new book A New Earth.
Also highly recommended!

This is Excellent, thanks Martijn. I’ve been known to be a sucker for this sort of thing in the past, but having read a lot of books about happiness, meditation, self-help, Eckhart seems to be conveying the essence of a lot of them. I am going to venture into Eckhart’s world and buy a dvd or book.

@Simon: I’ve also read lots of books and articles regarding meditation and ‘living in the present’. I noticed that this helped me understand the Findhorn Retreat better. The first time I watched the DVD’s not everything was clear to me. Then I read some more books and after a couple of months I watched the DVD’s again. That’s when I understood a lot more about what was told. So don’t give up on the DVD’s if you ‘don’t get it’ the first time. They are amazing.

@ Starbuck: Well, send me some interesting videos of/about Steve Hagen and I’ll look into them. Thnx for the tip anyway!

@Starbuck: Yes, it does mean that. Unless you write a great article about him in English. 😉

In particularly i like the way he explains parables from other religions in the context of his teachings. Also, the way he takes context out of words by addressing them as pointers.

He has been a big inspiration in my lyrics and songwriting.

@danosongblog: Sounds like you have listened to / read Eckhart Tolle quite a lot. I especially like the way he shows how we think during his video lectures. It makes you aware of your own way of thinking.

I like your weekly mp3 initiative, by the way. Perhaps you could write a song with the title ‘Fresh Creation’ next week… 😉

Although I respect Tolle very much, I would also recommend Steve Hagen, since in my opinion he has been telling the same message like Tolle for over a decade now. Of course a lot of ppl may have a little trouble with Hagen being a zen-buddhist teacher. With Tolle not embracing any ‘religion’ (but rather extracting from various wisdoms) he is much more accessible.

So, Martijn, when will we read about Steve Hagen here? 😉

As far as I know Steve Hagen only writes books and does audio recordings. You can find them all here:
Does that exclude him from being featured here now? 😉
